Angelfish Level

Advanced Paddlers

Angelfish Level

Ages 12 to 24 months

This is the first level of the Advanced Paddler stream for swimmers who can submerge, and independently kick and paddle. In this class we extend breath control, submersion and develop independent mobility and buoyancy skills. We always include the incredibly important safety fall in, which teaches swimmers to spontaneously turn around and swim back to safety.

The Angelfish level is the feeder level for our unique Penguin level, where at only 2 years of age, swimmers are in a class without a parent. So, in Angelfish we also focus on encouraging them to be as independent as possible with their swimming.

Class format

A parent-and-child class offering a great bonding experience, where your child is conditioned to the water, and together learn the basic swimming elements and survival skills through fun activities, games, and songs. Parents/caregivers learn specific exercises to practise outside of swim lessons, and so accelerate the learning process.

Outcomes:

  • I enjoy swim lessons.
  • I am relaxed with my face under water.
  • I hold my breath for more than 5 seconds.
  • I can blow bubbles
  • I float and kick on my back with little support.
  • I have a strong kick and use my arms to propel through the water
  • I can follow instructions from the teacher

Penguin Level

Ages 2-3 years – 3 per class maximum

Penguin level is not a common offering amongst swim schools and caters for confident independent swimmers who have advanced relatively quickly and allows them to continue their progress without getting bored with activities they have already mastered. Remarkably this level sees 2-year-old swimmers in their class without a parent in the water.

It has a maximum of 3 children per class to maintain attention and extend your child’s confidence and ability.

Class format

A class with fun activities and games to make it an enjoyable experience. Learning to kick and paddle with limited use of noodles and kickboards to develop unassisted mobility and buoyancy. We always include the incredibly important safety fall-in, which teaches swimmers to spontaneously turn around and swim back to safety.
